When I was in college and struggling to declare a major, a very insightful counselor told me, "Do what you love."  So, I became a high school teacher and a coach.  I loved coaching because it gave me the opportunity to work with highly skilled and motivated athletes and take them to the next level of performance.  The victories and personal bests were gratifying but the enduring impact that coaching had on the athletes was even more rewarding.  To see my athletes dedicate themselves to improve their skills, gain confidence, and achieve success not only in the sports arena but in their lives -- that was the true and lasting source of inspiration for me.

Coaching led me to want me to help improve lives on a larger scale and for almost 30 years, I traveled to and lived in developing countries and worked on some of the most complex problems facing Africa, Latin America, and Asia. As a senior executive with the U.S. Government I led multi-cultural teams to develop and implement the U.S. foreign assistance strategy.  It was in these leadership positions that I began to coach subordinates and developed a real interest in how leaders develop. Also, I experienced the benefits of executive coaching first-hand and recognized the parallels with other types of coaching experiences

This interest led to an academic position at the National Defense University in Washington, D.C., one of the most prestigious institutions for training public sector executives.  I served as an Assistant Professor in the Strategic Leadership Department where I taught Strategic Leadership to senior officials from across the government, industry and foreign militaries.

More than thirty years after I graduated from college I am still following the advice of my counselor to “do what you love.”  In 2011, my husband and I combined our efforts and interests and established TLC Solutions as a way to focus on leadership development and executive coaching as a tool toward that end.

Whether you are an executive in a new position, an experienced leader who is struggling, or an emerging leader in a stretch assignment, I can help you. My goal is to take you, a highly skilled

professional, to the next level and make your dreams come true.
